The winner of last year in April, Leaf, the first electric car ever to win the competition. With 257 points, and barely won the Lev Alfa Romeo Giulietta of 248 points. Came Meriva Opel / Vauxhall in 1 / 3 in very closely with 244 points.

 This year's jury of 59 journalists representing 23 European countries meet in Sweden to test drive cars competing. How many journalists, the country gets to send a relative to the size of the car market and its activities in the field of manufacturing cars.  The only cars that were launched or in the 12 months before the competition are eligible. They must be completely new models, not just aesthetic updates and / or mechanical current of the car.  On January 9, 2012, a simple vote will narrow the 35 cars to seven points in the final round. To determine the winner, and will be on each member of the jury on 25 points to attribute to at least five cars as they see fit, and the maximum allowed to give one car is 10 points.
